Office

Henderson’s primary public building is City Hall. In early 2005 the city offices moved to a new location of 1044 N Main Street. This building was gifted to the City by Henderson State Bank as the bank had built a new building. The one-story masonry building was remodeled slightly inside to house the offices for the City Clerk and the Chamber of Commerce Director, council chambers and another small conference room.

With the remodeling taking place, there was a handicap accessible bathroom added allowing the building to be ADA compliant. Voting polls are held at this location along with the monthly council meetings which are on the second Tuesday of the month.

The city clerk is Connie Brown and she is at the city office Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Mayor and City Council oversees the duties of the city clerk. Some duties include keeping the city books, preparing the annual budget for all departments, providing information for annual audit, keeping minutes of meetings, payroll, preparing miscellaneous tax forms throughout the year, deposits, writing of claims for council to approve, producing and sending water/sewer bills every month, typing all correspondence and publishing any notices.
