1. Do you need a license for your dog or cat?
You do need a license for dog(s) only that are over three months of age. The license is $5.00 a year per dog and you need to have proof of
current shots from a vet before you can receive a license. You need a license even if your dog is an indoor dog. The licenses are good for one year expiring April 30. If owner has
not paid by May 10, the fee is raised to $10.00. Notices will be sent to owners in April if they were on the prior year's list or the owner has notified the City.
The dog(s) have to have their tags on at all times. You may receive your license from City Hall during regular business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding noon hours.
Dogs are not allowed to run at large. The Police Department is reasponsible for capturing dogs that are running at large. If a dog is captured, it is taken to the
dog pound south of town. You may notify either City Hall or the Police Department to have the dog released after paying a fine of $10.00.
2. What do you need a building permit for?
You need a building permit for any type of building that is going to either be erected, change the dimensions of the outside of your existing home, or anything that is going to be placed where property lines
will be a factor (i.e. fences, garden sheds). You may receive an application at City Hall during regular business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding noon hours or download the permit.
The cost is $10.00. After completing the application, the zoning administrator will need to review the plans to verify they are within the code book specs. If plans are to code the zoning administrator will then approve the plans in order for the building to begin.
If a variance is needed, the Planning Commission will be notified and they will need to approve the variance and recommend the Board of Adjusment to do the same. After such recommendation has been accepted, then the zoning administrator will approve the plans and building may begin.
